Barbara Johnson, ESQ.
After 15 years as a partner with a global law firm, in 2016, Barbara L. Johnson created BLJohnson Law and began serving as Counsel to Potter & Murdock. She helps clients translate complex workplace legal issues into practical business-minded solutions.
With over 30 years of experience in the litigating civil rights discrimination, whistleblower, and wage and hour claims, and in providing sound day-to-day employment law advice, she represents employers of all sizes, from small business owners to Fortune 50 corporations. She also acts as an investigator for a variety of issues requiring an independent review and analysis of alleged workplace misconduct, and conduct mediations and arbitrations.
She began her professional career as an analytical chemist and instrument engineer for a global chemical company before attending law school. She obtained her J.D. from Marshall-Wythe School of Law and her undergraduate degree from Hampton University.
Barbara is a Fellow of the ABA College of Labor & Employment Attorneys and Immediate Past President of the National Employment Law Council. She serves as Secretary to the Board of Visitors of the College of William & Mary and Chair of the Board of Governors of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies. She’s passionate about making a difference for employers and human resources teams and helping people unleash their team’s full potential.
Belinda Reed Shannon, ESQ.
Belinda Reed Shannon is the president and founder of SiaRA Consulting, Incorporated- a human resources consulting firm. Her expertise in human resources comes with a strong background in employment law and diversity, equity, and inclusion work for the U.S. government and a global pharmaceutical company. Today, she runs her human resources consulting firm out of North Carolina and LA.
Her long, rich career in human resources is complemented by her education; she got her Bachelor’s and then her MBA degrees from Florida A&M University, as well as her J.D. from Wayne State University Law School.
Between her legal experience and rich expertise in all things HR, she’s got the knowledge that every human resources director, manager, and business owner needs to keep their employees happy, productive, and working harmoniously. Even more importantly, she has a passion to share it.
